A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT TO EXPECT

Under the supervision of the Director of harbour towing operations in Montréal, the position holder will perform mechanical operation and maintenance on tugs with azimuth propulsion (Z-Drive) or conventional tugs. He will work mainly in the port of Montréal and be required to make a few trips outside the port when needed.

Responsabilities YOU WILL BE ENTRUSTED WITH

  • Maintain the main engine and auxiliary equipment
  • Operate electrical, mechanical and hydraulic control systems as well as supply-at-sea equipment
  • Operate and maintain refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning systems
  • Follow-up on the tasks from the preventive maintenance system
  • Ensure implementation of the safety management system in his department
  • Monitor the functioning parameters of the main engine (pressure, temperature, levels) and report any irregularity

 

required sought

  • Canadian STCW-95 Fourth Class motor marine engineering mechanic certificate (other higher classes could be considered)
  • Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada
  • Good knowledge of diesel motor mechanics
  • Two (2) or three (3) years of experience on a ship as Engineer Officer
  • Self-sufficient and responsible
  • Good organizational skills
