A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT TO EXPECT

Under the supervision of the foremen, the mechanic performs the installation and repair of mechanical and piping systems and equipment. He will have to carry out all other tasks related to his function.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES YOU WILL BE ENTRUSTED WITH

  • Install and repair mechanical systems on vessels under construction or in dry dock
  • Participate in major repairs as directed by the mechanical foreman: use lifting equipment, disassemble and reassemble machines and pieces of equipment, handle parts and participate in tests of completion as directed
  • Install and repair plumbing systems
  • Maintain and repair machinery
  • Maintain and repair work equipment
  • Perform preventive inspections
  • Perform other standard maintenance work
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure that it works well and that repairs are consistent with the manufacturer’s requirements
  • Carry out the inspection and repair of fixed and travelling appliances or machinery that will be subject to inspection
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by his immediate supervisor

  • Hold a diploma in mechanics, in plumbing and heating, or in any related fields
  • Knowledge of diesel mechanics and piping
  • 0-2 years of experience in mechanics of all kinds
  • Experience in boat mechanics, an asset
  • Experience in the naval industry, an asset
  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
