BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director – Business Development and Estimation, the incumbent will be responsible for cost and price estimation related to shipbuilding and repair activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with client representatives to clarify their needs and provide an accurate and appropriate cost estimate;
  • Negotiate with client representatives to reach a signed contract;
  • Transmit technical requirements, needs and other information necessary for the preparation of a proposal to other Ocean Group sectors of activity, subcontractors and suppliers;
  • In collaboration with the purchasing department, request detailed quotes from other sectors of Ocean Group, subcontractors and suppliers to complete the estimation;
  • Estimate project costs as accurately as possible;
  • Identify, gather and complete the various documents required to respond to calls for tenders;
  • Plan and lead bid closures and present the service offers to the Assistant Directors before transmission to clients;
  • Plan the stages of the work to establish the estimated costs in collaboration with operations;
  • Research potential projects;
  • Complete preliminary contracts using templates provided by the company;
  • Create and maintain sound business relationships with existing and potential clients;
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or any combination of relevant training;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the marine field;
  • Experience in project management (an asset);
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Bilingualism in French and English, oral and written.
