A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT TO EXPECT

Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the incumbent will have to perform general mechanical maintenance on the Z-Drive and conventional tugs under the responsibility of Services et maintenance Océan. He will have to perform occasional rotations on tugs operating in various ports.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES YOU WILL BE ENTRUSTED WITH

MAINTENANCE (70%):

  • Participate in major repairs (e.g.: use lifting devices, perform the dismantling and reassembly of machines and equipment parts)
  • Check and repair devices or machinery subject to inspection
  • Maintain the main engine and auxiliary equipment
  • Monitor the tasks of the preventive maintenance system

OPERATIONS (30%):

  • Operate ships according to the company’s practices and those recognized by the industry
  • Ensure the implementation of the company’s maintenance program
  • Perform occasional watches in the engine room to support operations
  • Operate electrical, mechanical and hydraulic control systems as well as replenishment-at-sea equipment
  • Operate and maintain refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning equipment
  • Ensure the implementation of the safety management system in his department
  • Monitor the functioning parameters of the main engine (pressure, temperature, levels) and report any irregularity

  • Valid 3rd class motor engineering mechanic certificate (minimum required)
  • Propulsion simulator II training certificate
  • Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada
  • STCW MED training certificates with respect to basic safety, proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats and advanced fire fighting
  • Available for long trips
  • Available day and night and on weekends, and willing to travel outside ports
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Good physical condition
  • Independent
  • Organizational skills
  • Functional English
  • Intermediate command of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
