Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to participate in various maneuvers or tasks aboard barges or workboats at the Champlain Bridge site. He will perform the berthing and unberthing of the ship and various necessary tasks related to equipment. Depending on projects, the job holder may be required to work elsewhere in the province of Quebec.


  • Participate in escorting and towing maneuvers on small tugs or workboats
  • Assist the Master during the various maneuvers or movements
  • Ensure the management of moorings and equipment according to appropriate procedures
  • Provide assistance during maintenance and repairs
  • Remove snow or ice from ships and equipment when required
  • Carry out maintenance and refueling tasks on equipment
  • Observe health, safety and environmental protection regulations


  • Hold necessary seamanship certificates issued by Transport Canada (MED, medical certificate, etc.)
  • Mandatory seamanship principle and capacity (splice, maneuver)
  • Enjoy teamwork
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as Deckhand
  • Experience in maneuvers with barges or other similar equipment is an asset
  • Holding a health and safety on construction sites card (ASP Construction) would be an asset
  • Basic knowledge in mechanics is an asset
  • Available and willing to travel when required
  • Good physical shape
