Refloating the Rene Brazeau dredging barge

Refloating the Rene Brazeau dredging barge

A long, complex operation

St. John, NB, February 2011 – Ocean staff supervises the refloating of R.J. MacIsaac Construction Ltd.’s dredging barge Rene Brazeau, which sunk in the Port of St. John, New Brunswick. The operation lasts 30 days. The dredge, which is 25 feet below the low-tide mark, is then injected with air and raises to the surface. The operation is brought to a successful conclusion despite 30 foot tides and turbid water that greatly reduce visibility.
