Transportation of a hydroelectric turbine manufactured by GE Canada
Transportation adapted to oversize loads
Montreal, August 2008 - Ocean Navigation plays a crucial role in shipping the biggest hydroelectric turbine built for the Three Gorges dam in China. The 420-ton turbine measures over 5.4 m high and 10 m in diameter. This oversized equipment is too big to be moved by road. Ocean carries the turbine through the Lachine Canal to the Port of Montréal, where a cargo ship is waiting to take it to Shanghai, China.
