Sept-Îles, May 12, 2011 — A brand new, state-of-the-art tugboat, the Ocean Yvan Desgagnés, was christened yesterday in Sept-Îles. It will be available for harbour duties in the Port of Sept-Îles, including escort services, short- and long- distance towing, and salvage and wreck removal operations.

The boat has firefighting equipment and a reinforced hull for ice navigation. It is powered by a 5,000 bhp motor and two omnidirectional Z-drive propellers. The Ocean Remorquage Côte-Nord division, now based in the Port of Sept-Îles, will direct the tug’s operations.
