We are actively seeking a 4TH Class Engineering Officer to join the crew of the OCEAN TRAVERSE NORD to ensure the good operation of the vessel’s machinery, including start-up and shut-down procedures for main engines and auxiliary generators. He will also be required to work independently to assess mechanical breakdowns (machinery, pumps, hydraulics, electricity) by carrying out dismantling, rebuilding, and final installation once the parts have been obtained.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:

  • Operate every suction dredger machinery;
  • Perform preventive maintenance following procedures and guidelines;
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of the engine room and all equipment on board;
  • Ensure the proper functioning of equipment on board;
  • Dismantle, repair, and reinstall equipment related to diesel main engines, auxiliary diesel engines, hydraulic power packs, water pump, dredging system, and electrical systems on board the vessel;
  • Read and understand the vessel’s drawings (hull, piping diagrams, machinery, and electrical layout);
  • Ensure bunkering operations;
  • Keep inventory;
  • Keep work areas clean;
  • Comply with all company policies, especially health, safety and environmental policies;
  • Monitor engine operating parameters and reports;
  • Prepare the vessel for annual inspection;
  • Participate in internal and external audits;
  • Complete logbooks, records, and checklists;
  • Register defects using the preventive maintenance software;
  • Report any problems or suggest repairs to be carried out on faulty equipment to the Mechanical Superintendent;
  • Participate in and support the activities of the Health, Safety, and Environment Management System.

 

OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS:

  • Fourth Class Marine Engineer Canadian Certification of Competency (Motor);
  • Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada;
  • Certificates of aptitude:
    • Basic security STCW-BS
    • Ability to operate lifeboats and rescue boats, other than fast rescue boats
    • Advanced firefighting techniques
  • Restricted radio certificate (asset);
  • One (1) year’s experience at sea as an engineer officer and the possibility of obtaining a second-level visa from Transport Canada (an asset);
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a mechanic officer (asset);
  • Passport (asset);
  • Good knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems;
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting;
  • Comfortable working with Sinex and Microsoft Office;
  • Demonstrate positive leadership;
  • Responsible, autonomous, motivated by teamwork, and punctual;
  • Language: advanced level in spoken and written French or English.
