BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Project Manager and the Tug Captain, the incumbent will be responsible for the operation and mechanical maintenance on an azimuthally propelled tug (ASD/Z-Drive). The incumbent will be called upon to work on various projects, notably on Baffin Island or the McInnis cement plant in Paspébiac.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform maintenance on the main engine and auxiliary equipment;
  • Operate the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic control systems and the offshore refueling equipment;
  • Operate and maintain the refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning equipment;
  • Follow up on preventive maintenance system tasks;
  • Ensure the application of the safety management system;
  • Monitor the operating parameters of the main engine (pressure, temperature, oil levels) and report any anomalies;
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System;
  • Perform any other related duties as requested by his immediate supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Canadian STCW third (3rd) class mechanical officer certificate with urgent simulator;
  • Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada;
  • Certificates of competency:
  • Basic Safety STCW-BS;
  • Lifeboat and rescue boat operating skills, other than fast rescue boats;
  • Advanced firefighting techniques.
  • Good knowledge of diesel mechanics;
  • Availability for long trips;
  • Bilingualism in French and English, oral and written;
  • Experience working in the Arctic (an asset).
