BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
As an incumbent, you will perform towing maneuvers on a tug, lead a crew and ensure the management of the maintenance of the vessel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a crew and ensure the smooth running of maneuvers;
- Ensure that the vessel and crew are certified for the area of operation;
- Ensure the proper functioning of the vessel’s equipment;
- Ensure the seaworthiness of the vessel in all conditions;
- Prepare and validate repair and modification lists with the Chief Engineer;
- Inspect material, structure and equipment according to the SINEX maintenance program;
- Promote and maintain the health and safety of all persons on board the vessel;
- Implement the company’s safety and environmental protection policies;
- Implement and audit the company’s SMS system;
- Operate vessels in compliance with company and industry recognized practices.
REQUIREMENTS
- Two (2) to five (5) years experience as a conventional tug captain;
- Experience as an officer on a vessel equipped with a SMS system;
- Customer service oriented;
- Good stress management (medium to high);
- Good organizational skills;
- Openness to learning and development;
- Leadership and excellent teamwork skills;
- Experience on ASD tugs (asset);
- Experience in docking vessels (major asset).
CERTIFICATIONS
- Certificate of competency of 500T or more;
- Valid Marine Medical;
- Certificate of Proficiency in Marine Emergency Duties -STCW Basic Safety (STCW BS);
- Certificate of Proficiency in Marine Emergency Duties – Lifeboat Other than Fast Boat (STCW PSC);
- Marine Emergency Duties Certificate – Advanced Firefighting (STCW AFF);
