We are actively seeking a captain to lead a floating staff, manage the maintenance of the vessel and carry out harbour towing operations (docking and undocking) and towage (as required) on the tugs, pilot boats, dredges and workboats in Ocean Group’s fleet.

The floating staff’s operations will be carried out in the various harbour operation sites and/or the maintenance unit according to operational needs. The members of the floating staff will therefore have to travel to the various sites. The incumbent may also have to work in collaboration with the various managers for various administrative needs.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:

  • Lead a crew and ensure the smooth running of manoeuvres;
  • Ensure that the ship and crew have the necessary certification for the area of operation;
  • Ensure the proper management of the ship (crew, equipment, administration);
  • Ensure the seaworthiness of the ship in all conditions;
  • Participate in the validation of repair and modification lists with the chief engineer;
  • Inspect material, structure and equipment according to the SINEX maintenance programme;
  • Apply and audit the company’s SMS system;
  • Operate vessels according to company and industry-accepted practices;
  • Participate in various professional development training and development of training;
  • Assist the Ocean Marine Expertise Centre (OMEC) in certain matters (standardizing documentation, improving the SMS and various SMS-related procedures);
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS:

  • Captain’s certificate 3000tx;
  • Demonstrated mastery, autonomy in the job (knowledge, skills, know-how) and positive leadership;
  • Marine medical certificate;
  • The following certifications:
  • CF FUM Basic Safety STCW (STCW-BS)
  • CA MED Lifeboat and Non-Fast Rescue Boat Operation Skills [PSC/PSC]
  • CF FUM Advanced Fire Fighting Techniques [TALI/AFF]
  • CF Basic First Aid at Sea
  • Restricted Radio Operator Certificate
  • Knowledge of the operation of a quality system with ISM standards (SMS);
  • Class 5 driving licence;
  • Willingness to travel frequently to the various operating sites;
  • Languages: advanced level in French and in English, oral and written.
