A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT TO EXPECT

Using its dredging equipment, Ocean removes deep-water sediments whether for the purpose of decontaminating, maintaining or deepening channels used by vessels. It also carries out filling operations to restore eroded banks or create protection strips. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for performing various maneuvers and movements on a small tug or on a workboat as part of various dredging projects in Quebec and Eastern Canada.

ResponsIBILITIES YOU WILL BE ENTRUSTED WITH

  • Perform maneuvers, escorting and towing with small tugs or workboats
  • Move the various pieces of equipment during projects
  • Bring barges at required locations
  • Check that the ship’s equipment functions properly and ensure basic maintenance
  • Ensure the smooth running of operations
  • See to the ship’s stability in all conditions
  • Observe all relevant regulations concerning ship operation
  • Ensure the implementation of safety and environmental protection policies

required sought

  • Hold a 60 to 150-ton Master’s certificate
  • Have 2-year experience as Captain
  • Have work experience in manoeuvring on small tonnage vessels (fishing boats, tugs, workboats, etc.)
  • Experience in maneuvers with barges or other similar equipment is an asset
  • Available and willing to travel during the period of the contracts
  • Dredging experience would be an asset
  • Enjoy teamwork
