2nd class Marine Engineer, Location to be determined

Reporting to the Project Director and the Tug Captain, the incumbent will have to carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance on tugs with azimuthal propulsion (ASD/Z-Drive). He will be required to work on Baffin Island, Nunavut.



  • Maintain main engine and auxiliary equipment;
  • Operate electrical, mechanical and hydraulic control systems as well as at-sea refueling equipment;
  • Operate and maintain refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning equipment;
  • Attend to preventive maintenance system tasks;
  • Ensure application of the safety management system in his department
  • Monitor main engine operating parameters (pressure, temperature, oil levels) and report any anomaly;
  • Other related tasks as requested by his supervisor.



  • Valid STCW 2nd class motor marine engineering mechanic certificate (minimum required);
  • Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada;
  • Certificates of Proficiency (CoP):
    • STCW Basic Safety;
    • MED Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats;
    • Advanced Fire Fighting;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as Engineer Officer;
  • Good knowledge of diesel mechanics;
  • Availability for long trips;
  • Functional English required;
  • Work experience in the Arctic (an asset).
