Rimouski, September 24th, 2015 – Last May, Ocean announced its partnership with the Institut maritime du Québec (IMQ) in the refurbishing of the IMQ student coffee shop. Responding to the 3rd orientation of IMQ’s strategic plan: "An institution where people can comfortably live, work and grow. "And" Design the building to reflect its status as a national marine school", this partnership allowed the two institutions to provide students with a new setting for student life at the Café Océan. The renovation of the latter aimed to foster a sense of belonging to their educational institution and the maritime industry and strengthen values dear to both organizations: synergy and team spirit.
Thanks to a sponsorship and a financial package including among others the IMQ Foundation and the participation of students themselves, it is a whole new area that have discovered IMQ students today, employees and our industry partners. Unrecognizable, the student café was rejuvenated by its maritime and current trends. Thus, the furniture has been completely changed and now the students have access to a lounge and a new study room. The equipment was also renewed.
"The maritime industry faces major challenges in recruiting new employees. This is why Ocean is proud to invest in this institution, the IMQ, to motivate young people to join this dynamic and stimulating living environment to the image of the new Ocean Café " said Manon Lavoie, General Manager - shipbuilding and repair at Ocean.
In order to thank Ocean for its outstanding contribution, the IMQ has decided to name the student café "Ocean Café." In addition, there are four wall paintings in the image of the company on the walls of the Café.
