Québec City, April 30, 2012 – Ocean Industries Inc. announced the construction of a new 25 metre long tugboat at its shipyard on Isle-aux-Coudres. The new $10.6 million tugboat took seven months to build and enabled the company to maintain all-important jobs. The project was funded by Industry Canada through its Structured Financing Facility. The funding represents 15% of the purchase cost.

When the tugboat belonging to Ocean Remorquage Montréal Inc. leaves the shipyard in December 2012, it will be assigned harbour duties in the Port of Montreal for ship escort services, short- and long-distance towing, rescue operations and wreck removal. The tugboat will have a reinforced hull for ice navigation and be powered by a 4,000 BHP motor and two omnidirectional Z-drive propellers. It will be equipped with a firefighting system and all the necessary equipment to provide safe and reliable services.
