CSB Years in the bay of Sept-Îles

Sept-Îles, October 15, 2013 - The CBS Years, a Chinamax size vessel flying the flag of China, arrives in Sept-Îles, the only port facility large enough to accommodate the 330 meter long giant with a 315,085 tons capacity.

Sylvain Desgagnés, Captain for Océan Pilotage Côte-Nord, took control of the ship a dozen miles off the Port  in the Gulf of St. Lawrence to ensure the smooth running of the anchoring in the Bay of Sept-Îles. The operation took over two (2) hours, this type of vessel being extremely heavy therefore slow in turning or stopping.

The CBS Years will is probably never ascend the St. Lawrence River since it requires a greater water depth to navigate.
