Ocean, a valuable asset in the Far North
Greenland, July 2012 – The Ocean Foxtrot is part of a fleet of seven support ships assisting three seismic vessels off the coast of Greenland. These geophysical research ships provide the oil industry with seismic data on underwater geological structures. The recorded data is processed by computer and presented in the form of 2D bands or 3D data blocks covering widths of hundreds of metres and depths of several kilometres. In addition of supplying fuel and food, the role of the support ships is to prevent icebergs or other vessels from disturbing the work.
