Dredging work in the Bay of Sept-Îles
Essential expertise for preparing the terrain
Sept-Îles, August 2012 – Ocean Dredging DSM Inc. is carrying out major dredging work in the Bay of Sept-Îles near the Cliffs Mines wharf at Pointe-Noire. The 20 month, $220 million project involves building a multi-user wharf designed to receive large bulk ore carriers. Ocean Dredging DSM spent 60 days dredging 400,000 m3 of sediments down to a depth of 21 m in an area where the average depth is about 15 m. The dredging work will enable the new facilities to receive bulk ore carriers of over 200,000 tons, and ultimately ships of more than 300,000 tons.
