Ship Owners and Agents : Shipyard
On October 5th, the VM/S Hercules was raised on Ocean Industries' hauling slip. The self-propelled floating crane VM/S Hercules was built in 1962 to serve as gate lifter for the Canadian locks in the St. Lawrence Seaway. The VM/S Hercules, with its lifting capacity, manoeuvrability and efficiency, is an important economical contribution to maritime industry in the region. Berthed in Montreal Harbour, the floating crane's services are often requested by local companies to load and discharge heavy cargo.
Measuring 62,5 meters in length by 23 meters in width, and with a gross register tonnage of 2,108 tons, the equipment was at our shipyard for its regulatory five-year dry dock.
The operation was a success thanks to the great efficiency of our shipyard's personnel who had to deal with limits imposed by the tides in order to raise the giant on our hauling slip.
