Marine Construction Contractors :
Marine Equipment Rental,
Our customer, Gersol Construction, received the contract to carry out the dredging of sections 102, 103 east and 104 at the Port of Montreal. Gersol called on Océan Construction's know-how in order to successfully complete the work.
Because of the considerable volume of sediments to be removed from the sea floor (45 000 m3), the dredging had to be done in two phases, from July to August 2008 and from mid-October to early December 2008.
During the first phase, the following equipment was used:
The greater volume of sediments was removed during the second phase and higher performing equipment was necessary to carry out the work:
Due to the level of contamination, and in order to minimise suspended matter, a containment curtain was required during the entire operations.
The residue was transported to the dock where the customer took possession of it for decontamination.
